not to be one of those people, but i loved this song before the hype. i loved bon iver before the hype. for emma, forever ago is just one of THOSE albums. i remember exactly where i was when i heard it. early summer 2008. i remember how i felt (lonely, but empowered), and how the air smelt (damp). i sat in my basement by myself and must’ve listened to that album six times in a row. skinny love gave me goosebumps every single time. it made my stomach jump into my throat. and it still does.
